CASE-HALSTEAD LIBRARY
The library provides Carlyle residents with free access to research information, reading materials to meet all interests and free Internet access. The library maintains approximately 26,000 items, including books, videos for adults and children, audio books, children’s books with puppets, magazines and CDs. In addition to its in-house holdings, the Case-Halstead Library has access to additional books and materials through the interlibrary loan system. The library also houses several items that are useful to persons doing genealogy research.

The Case-Halstead Library is located at the former home of Eckstein Case, who donated the house in 1938 to the City of Carlyle for the library. The house was originally constructed in 1860, but the library financed additions in 1975 and 1993.

The library is open from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Give the library staff a call at 618-594-5210 for any questions or requests.

MATER DEI HIGH SCHOOL
Mater Dei High School is a Catholic high school which area residents, including Carlyle residents, are eligible to attend.  Mater Dei is located in Breese.  For more information on Mater Dei, the High School can be contacted by calling 618-526-7216.  Visit website.

Southern Illinois University
Southern Illinois University is a multicampus university comprising two institutions, Southern Illinois University at Carbondale (SIUC) with a School of Medicine at Springfield, and Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville (SIUE) with a School of Dental Medicine at Alton and a center in East St. Louis.

Kaskaskia College
Carlyle is only 18 miles from Kaskaskia College, a community college in Centralia, IL. Kaskaskia College was the first community college in Illinois established under the Junior College Act of 1965. It has a rich tradition of providing comprehensive, high quality, cost-effective educational opportunities for lifelong learning. Kaskaskia College offers Associate of Science and Associate of Arts degrees for transfer to four-year colleges and universities as well as 29 associate degree career programs and 74 certificate programs.
