St. Joseph's Hospital Carlyle Health Fair

Come to Carlyle to find hidden treasures during the Spring City Wide Garage Sale, scheduled for April 16 & 17.  The City Garage Sales do not start at a uniform time; they open up when each sale is ready.  Check back for more information that becomes available, or call Jeff Taylor at 618-594-4600.

City-Wide Clean-Up Week 
This service is offered only to City of Carlyle residents.  A dumpster will be placed inside the fence at the Street & Alley Maintenance shed, at 1811 Washington Street, for items that may be brought and dumped.  If bringing items to the Street & Alley shed for dumping, please bring proof of residency.  The dumpster will be available on the 21st through the 23rd between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. and on the 24th between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.  Large, heavy metal objects, such as refrigerators, freezers, etc. will be picked up from residences if set out at the alley or street.  Items that will be accepted for dumping include, among other things, yard waste, EMPTY paint and oil cans, and old tires without rims.  No tractor tire or semi-trailer tires or batteries (car, tractor, etc.) will be accepted.  For more information, please call City Hall at 594-2468 or Street & Alley at 594-5211.

7-8   IHSA State Bass Fishing Finals                                                The City of Carlyle and Carlyle Lake have been fortunate to be chosen by the Illinois High School Association as the site for the second ever State Bass Fishing Finals.  Illinois is the first state in the nation to sanction such an event!  The Tournament will be held May 7 & 8, 2010, planned to be staged from the Dam West Boat Ramp.  The City is planning a Bass Celebration & Fishing Expo with food, entertainment, and vendors.  A casting event and youth fishing derby will be scheduled.  Check back for more information on event scheduling or contact the City Hall at 618-594-2468 for more information.  Click here for more information at the City Bass Finals page.  Click here to be taken to the IHSA Bass page.

Carlyle Sailing Assoc. Leukemia Cup Regatta
The 2010 Cup will be held on the weekend of May 29-30.  Proceeds from this event are donated to the Leukemia Society Foundation.  To date, almost $280,000 has been raised to fight leukemia.  For more information on CSA, visit them on the Internet or call 314-968-3654.

5 Carlyle Sailing Association Visitors’ Day
This is tentatively set for June 5.  The Carlyle Sailing Association is a nonprofit sailing club that promotes family sailing and racing.  Annually, CSA hosts a Visitor's Day and invites the public to learn how to sail.  CSA is located at 20960 Hazlet Park Road in Eldon Hazlet State Park.  For more information on CSA, visit them on the Internet
     
17   Carlyle Courthouse Square Farmers' Market                          The City of Carlyle is very excited that community volunteers have established a Farmers' Market that will be hosted on the east side of the Courthouse Square!  The Farmers' Market will begin Thursday, June 17 and will be held every Thursday through October 7.  Hours are scheduled to be 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. 

Visit Carlyle every week for the Farmers' Market's seasonal fruits, vegetables, herbs, honey, pecans, shrimp, fish, baked goods, candies, and wine.

3-4 Carlyle Lake Fireworks Spectacular & Independence Day
Celebrate Independence Day at Carlyle Lake!  Events and live music will be scheduled for the day and will conclude with the fireworks display in the evening.  Watch from your boat or from the shore or on top of the dam.  Sponsored by the Carlyle Lake Chamber of Commerce. The Fireworks Spectacular is scheduled for Saturday, July 3!

10 The Great Kaskaskia River Duck Race

23   Carlyle Parks Pumpkin Patch                                                 The Carlyle Parks Department organizes the Pumpkin Patch every year to celebrate the Fall Season.  Fun, seasonal activities, crafts, and inflatables are organized for children.  Children participating will be able to pick out a decorate a pumpkin.  The Pumpkin Patch begins at 9:00 a.m. and concludes at 1:00 p.m.  A $10 admission is charged.  For more  information, contact Dave Redeker at 618-594-5205.

    Christmas Lights in the Park                                                  Get into the spirit of the season as you view the thousands of Christmas lights strung throughout the City Park.  The lights will be up the entire month of December.  Free entry.
     
3   Christmas in Carlyle Parade & Fireworks                              The 2010 Christmas in Carlyle schedule will kick off with a parade and fireworks scheduled for Friday the 3rd.  The Parade begins at 6:30 p.m. and the route begins at 11th and Fairfax Streets.  The Parade will travel east to 5th Street and then north to the City Park.  Following the Parade, Santa and refreshments will accompany fireworks at the City Park.  You will be able to have your picture taken with Santa if you wish, courtesy of Traditions Portrait & Design.
